i heart school (and team) spirit!

The BigTime Blogging Challenge '14 rolls on...For anyone who just happened on BigTime Literacy today, we're about a week into a month-long challenge to celebrate the one year anniversary of BigTime Literacy! Join us at any time during the month and write as often (or as little) as you'd like!

Yesterday the BTBC prompt for the day was about teams that you love and follow....I had written a few posts a few days ago knowing I'd be busy for the fourth, but I did want to write about being a cheerleader (I heart cheerleaders, too!), so here it is!

I've been loving the White Sox since I was little. My dad worked for the White Sox doing security for 10 or 12 years so he instilled a very fierce love of Southside baseball in me from a very young age. When I was in high school, my dad pulled some strings so my bff and I could get on the Jumbotron:

That was pretty cool. When they won the world series, I got to try on the ring, too, but I can't seem to locate that picture.

I've always love the Cross-Town Classic where the Sox play the Cubs - my fave game(s) to attend! I had never even been to Wrigley until after I moved back to Chicago in 2009, but visiting Wrigley made it even more fun!

Anita, my friend in the middle, always tried to get us on TV (without Dad who knew the camera guy) so we'd make posters (complete with glitter, I might add!) to see if we could achieve Jumbotron status without knowing someone. We didn't make it, but had tons of fun anyways!

Actually, didn't matter if we were at Comiskey or Wrigley...love Chicago for it's two teams and gathering friends together to watch games!

My other love is Arizona State. Not that I necessarily know much about the football team or really watched many games while I was in Arizona, but after I found the Alumni Chapter of ASU Chicago, I really started to feel more at home here since my move.

I met great friends...

Participated in some awesome events, like the Pat Tillman Shadow Run....

Joined a bowling league with the ASU Alums...

got back to see a live game at ASU last year with more of my besties...

and met one of my most very favorite people:

Hektor is a Florida Gator, but one night after our game ended and his game ended we met while we were out with our respective alumni friends. Such a fun night....and this is why I love college football like I do!

So there you have it...I get my my Sox, ASU, and Cubs colors out to cheer for my teams! Chicago Bears, too, but I prefer college football over NFL.

What are your favorite teams? I'm sure you've probably linked up yesterday about this, but if not, link up with us today!

  4. I'm so happy to have found another Chicago middle school blogger! I hate when people ask me if I'm a Cubs or Sox fan because the truth is, I'm just a Chicago fan! I love this Big Time Challenge and will definitely be participating more this month!
